Captain Kira's School for Ladylike Combat and Piracy

In the Kingdom of SeaSpray is a stately manor with a reputation for being the baddest, roughest, most congenial all-girls school in the land…. Captain Kira’s School for Ladylike Combat and Piracy!

Captain Kira NoBeard is the headmistress of the school for all girls grades 1-12. As Kira herself was orphaned as an infant, there is an unspoken tendency to for the school to double as an orphanage, but students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, and many well-to-do families pay large sums in tuition. Priestess Cleo is the academic dean and the primary professor of all intellectual courses, clerical studies, arcane fields of study, and agricultural vocations. Kira tends to teach what she calls “practical classes”- classes focusing on being sneaky, thievery, pickpocketing, disguises, intimidation tactics, polite terrorism, ethics, swordplay, combat, martial arts, Adventuring 101,  and Advanced Piracy (which includes seafaring, navigation, survival, et al.). Many people send their daughters to Kira’s school because they feel it will prevent them from being victimized and give them a sense of confidence and a skillset that will help them become eligible bachelorettes. And they are right!

The school’s campus houses the school, which appears to be a large yet simple 2-story manor. In actuality there are two secret basements, making it a 4-story manor. The basements are guarded by the most trusted senior students and Coach Gragg (more about him later!). The upper basement is a storehouse for fine weapons and armor, with a faculty lounge, stocked with fine foods and a small training room. It is a stronghold in the event that the school is invaded, and while the underclasswomen are not currently aware that either basement exists, they would be directed there in the event of an emergency.The lower basement is obscured by a series of secret passages and false walls, and houses Kira’s treasure trove. This is where she keeps her most valuable possessions, including magical items and sentimental spoils of war. This is where she comes to have time to herself- she can swim through the gold coins in Uncle Scrooge fashion.

The dormitory stands alone in a taller, more narrow building, and the girls sleep in rooms segregated by age, with grades 5-8 on the bottom floor (they are the most hyper, and in this way their loud footsteps won’t be heard all over the house), grades 1-4 on the middle floor (they are buffered on both sides by children older than themselves for safety’s sake), and grades 9-12 on the top floor, making it difficult to sneak out to meet boys. ;) The campus has a dock where the girls can swim, fish, scuba dive, and practice their boating skills. There is also a stable which is managed by Priestess Cleo, and a gymnasium managed by Coach Gragg. Coach Gragg is the gruff but lovable Lizardman who coaches all of the school’s sport-teams and serves as head of campus security. Gragg the Lizardman and Bart the Ice Bear are the only males that regularly reside on campus, and they are regarded as part of Kira’s family.
