About the Captain
| Kira was born a princess of the kingdom of Seaspray, but her
kingdom was at war with Landsguard. As an infant, her family was traveling
the seas and the Seaspray fleet was ambushed by the EVIL EVIL EVIL
Landsguard family fleet. Kira's whole family was murdered, and she was the
only survivor. She was discovered by a group of pirates, floating across
the water. All she had was a signet necklace. Over the years, she worked
her way up in the pirate gang, until she had earned enough respect and
money to get her own ship and her own men to lead. Thus she became Captain
Kira Nobeard. She remained totally unaware of her status as Princess-- all
she knew was that she was an orphan and a pirate.
Kira's ship (The Red Herring) was small, and honestly, rather unsuccessful. She only had a few crew members, but they were loyal to her. She was very good friends with her first mate, Brian Liu. After pirating for a few years, she left her ship to Brian to campaign on land and search for a husband. Once there, she and her trusty parrot, Jacque, met Tat, Junpei, Sathrach, Pai the Bimbo, Cadwin, Zoe, and Terrenski. They had many awesome adventures together. Over time, Kira fell in love (or was it lust? nah, it was definitely love!) with Tat Landsfall, the son of the despicable Landsguard King. But Kira had no idea that she loved the enemy, and Tat despised his father anyway, so it should have been no obstacle to their union. It took Tat awhile, but he finally realized that he loved Kira in return. Eventually, Kira learned that she was a princess, and although she thought that was really cool, she was content with her life of looting and therefore chose not to go back to her kingdom. That was especially fortunate, seeing as how her kingdom had been obliterated. Kira is basically a good person. She definitely isn't a very smart character, but she has no wish to kill mercilessly, and she is a great thief. One thing that is interesting about Kira is that even though she is in perfectly good health, she keeps the pirate image by voluntarily wearing an eye-patch (she moves it carelessly from one eye to the other). She also has a hook that she can attach or unattach during battle. And for the sake of disguise, she has a peg leg that she can affix to her leg, thus giving the impression that one leg has been bitten off by a shark. Another interesting fact is that Kira is resistant to some magical effects. Even though this ability has caused some problems for the party, more often than not, the magic resistance has proved very helpful.
