COME SAIL WITH ME IN THE U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS!

This trip is for women who already know how to sail but want to sharpen their skills and gain confidence in preparation for a bareboat charter of their own. Together, we'll navigate the pristine beaches and blue waters of the Caribbean while learning and applying best practices for sailing anywhere in the world!

WHAT IS WOMEN'S SAILING WEEK?

This is a 7-day, 6-night sailing retreat aboard the luxury yacht Wild Rumpus, an 53 ft. Xquisite X5 Plus catamaran stuffed to the gills with everything needed to explore the Virgin Islands! Our crew will include another USCG licensed first mate and up to 6 sailors who aim to hone their sailing skills, want to explore tropical destinations, and hope to make lifelong friends. This is not a traditional sailing course but a hands-on sailing trip where you and your fellow travelers work together with the guidance of a professional captain and first mate to embark on the sailing trip of a lifetime.

PREREQUISITES:

This week-long retreat is for experienced sailors who have some sailing knowledge or hold the following ASA - or equivalent certifying body - certifications:

  • ASA 101 - Basic Keelboat

  • ASA 103 - Basic Coastal Cruising

If you have ASA 104, ASA 114, ASA 105 or ASA 106 (or equivalent experience), even better!

We will discuss sailing and navigation topics with an emphasis on catamaran sailing techniques, so some sailing experience is necessary to understand much of the curriculum.

While this is not a retreat for new sailors, budding sailors, and those who want to be excellent crew are welcome.

If you have questions about these prerequisites, please reach out!

ABOUT THE  US VIRGIN ISLANDS

The Virgin Islands are part of the  Greater Antilles and are located in the northern Caribbean Sea. The islands are known for their beautiful beaches, lush forests, and blue waters, with ample snorkeling and hiking locations. We'll explore St. John and St. Thomas, two islands of the U.S. Virgin Islands. St. Thomas is awash with historic sights, shopping, and nightlife. St. John is primarily a nature preserve where we'll tuck away from the crowds and explore nature. The weather in March averages 80°C and is considerably dryer than any other month. However, as is typical in tropical climates, afternoon rain showers are to be expected.

WHAT'S NOT INCLUDED:

  • Travel to and from Wild Rumpus and accommodations along the way.

  • Any meals, snacks, or beverages purchased ashore

  • Alcoholic beverages on or off the boat.

  • Any travel or activities done ashore (i.e. guided tours or classes booked outside and not associated with Women's Sailing Week).

  • Personal Flotation Device (offshore preferred!), harness, tether, sailing gloves, etc.

  • Rain Jacket and Pants - we don't expect heavy foul weather, however, light rain gear is beneficial for the wet but warm tropical rain showers that may blow through.

  • Travel and/or Travel Medical Insurance (strongly recommended)

  • This is an experience independent of any certifying body; certifications are not included (However, all topics covered are applicable to course challenges).

  • Gratuity for your captain and first mate (standard 20%)
